Guru Poormina - celebrated on 2nd July 2004
I arose on the morning of the 2nd July with a sense of excitement and anticipation. The early morning cool air brought clarity and helped me focus as I approached the ashram, Llandeilo church informing me that it was 5.50 a.m. The terrace of the ashram had been beautifully decorated with Indian silk sarees and bunting, really fitting for this auspicious occasion. The ceremony commenced, led by Sannyassi Anandamurti, Registrar at Bihar Yoga Bharati, India. The fire gave warmth , inspiration and spiritual light and the mantras were exquisite, giving a deepening sense of meditation.
We chanted Maha Mantra for three hours and the energy felt very high and clear. After lunch we all made a mala and this was quite a process! For some, myself included, it felt difficult and frustrating to create. However, when I did complete my mala it felt great, and I’d learnt something about my own emotional responses in the process. I use my mala now at home, and I feel very appreciative of the opportunity to have made it.
Many thanks to Swami Niranjanananda for blessing us with Sannyassi Ananadamurti’s presence on such an auspicious occasion. Thanks also to Padmamurti, Rajneesh, Soham and Sri Vasja for giving their time and energy for creating delicious cuisine. Our thanks to all who were present. The essence of the day was of unity, community, love and service.
